Carregar (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how location data and personal information are handled when you use the Carregar mobile application.

1. Overview & Data Philosophy

Carregar is designed with privacy by default:

No User Account Required: You do not need to register, log in, or provide personal details to use the application.
On-Device Data Processing: All calculation logic (charging profiles, cost estimation, filter settings, and vehicle data) runs locally on your Android device.
No Third-Party Tracking or Selling: We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal or location data.

2. Location Information

How Location Data is Used

When you grant location permission, Carregar accesses your device’s location to:

Show your current location marker on the charger map.
Center the map on your position.
Sort charging stations by proximity and calculate distance.

Storage and Retention

Local Only: Your location is processed solely in real-time in temporary device memory.
No Server Telemetry: Carregar does not transmit, collect, or store your real-time location or location history on external servers.

3. Infrastructure & Data Sources

Carregar communicates with public charging network APIs and dedicated backend servers to deliver live charger status and pricing information efficiently:

Aggregated Data & Proxy Infrastructure: We use dedicated server infrastructure to host, preprocess, and cache aggregated charging station data and tariffs for fast, bandwidth-efficient delivery to the app. No personal data, user accounts, or user location coordinates are sent to, logged by, or stored on our servers.
Mobi.E Network API: Serves real-time status and connector availability for Portuguese EV charging infrastructure.
OpenStreetMap (OSM): Used for enrichment of static location details.
Firebase Analytics / Crashlytics: Anonymous diagnostic and crash reports to improve application stability and performance. No precise location data or personally identifiable information is sent to Firebase.

4. Local Storage & Data Retention

Carregar stores application preferences and saved vehicles/charging profiles locally on your device using Android’s encrypted Room Database and Preferences Storage. You can clear or remove this data at any time by clearing application storage or uninstalling the app.

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and global privacy regulations:

You have full control over location permissions through Android OS settings.
Since Carregar does not maintain remote user accounts or track personal identity, no personal data profiles exist on remote servers.

6. Open Source & Transparency

Carregar utilizes open-source components and open data standards. Open-source licenses used by third-party libraries in Carregar can be viewed in the app under Settings > Open Source Licenses.
